Straight up boom-bap everything. Minimalistic beautifully sloppy drumming as deep in the pocket as possible. Heavily blunted backbeats that are ripe for chopping, flipping, scratching, and re-imagining.
Recorded live on cloth muted drums with oktava, shure, audix mics midas mixer.

Mixed with minimal processing/efx in order to allow for *you* to process/pitch/warp/change tempo/distort/effect how ever you like. These loops are intentionally not over compressed/saturated with the idea that producers can really process these loops in their own creative ways. These beats are flexible. Additionally, I included some fills, high hat loops, and percussion loops to extend the pallete.

After the release of BOOM BAP BREAKS VOL. 1 I thought about ways to improve my process and take this next volume to another level.  Prior to recording this pack I practiced playing steady, minimal beats on my drum kit for 1 hour per day for 30 consecutive days (May 4-June 4 2020). I then recorded 7 sessions of 30-50 minutes each over the next week (June 5-11, 2020).  Editing took about 20 hours (June 12-14, 2020). All of the recordings were improvised without a metronome. Harvesting 500 of the best 1,2,4, and 8 bar loops from 4 hours of drum improvisations was an epic task! I am happy with how it turned out. I feel like there are some really special breaks in this pack and I hope that producers enjoy making music with them them as much as i do...
